Lens Selection

The Utah Valley Optical Shop offers top quality lenses. Your optician will discuss all lens options that best fit your lifestyle and glasses prescription when you come in for your glasses fitting.

Anti-reflective coating:

Anti-reflective coating or AR coating is used to reduce the amount of glare and reflections that bounce off lenses. An anti-reflective coating helps reduce reflections which allows more light to enter your eyes giving you the clearest vision possible.
There are multiple benefits of using an AR coat on your lenses including:

  • Reduced glare around lights at night.
  • Reduced eye strain
  • Cosmetically pleasing
  • Gives you the clearest vision possible.
  • Added UV protection
  • Added scratch resistance

Progressive lenses:

Progressive lenses are lenses that help with presbyopic patients ( patients that need assistance for both distance and near work). These lenses have no bifocal lines and have 3 areas of vision: distance, intermediate, and near.

Transition lenses:

Transition or photochromic lenses are lenses that automatically adjust to changing lighting situations. These lenses will remain clear indoors and darken when exposed to UV rays when moving outdoors.
Transition lenses can be a good option for you if:

  • You are light sensitive when going outdoors.
  • You want the convenience of not looking for your sunglasses when you head outside
  • You play outdoor sports.

It is important to note that transition lenses are activated when exposed to UV light. For this reason, transition lenses will not darken when inside a car as much as they do when you are in direct sunlight. You should consider a pair of sunglasses to keep in your car for comfort while driving.

Lens materials:

Did you know that not all eyeglass materials are the same? It is important to choose the correct lens material for your individual prescription, frame choice, and lifestyle. One of our well trained opticians can assist you with lens material choice during your glasses fitting.

  • The staff was friendly and welcoming. It was my first time going to an eye doctor since I moved to Utah and yet they treated me like I'd been going there for years. I also always need help picking out frames because I struggle trying to determine what really looks good on me, and the wonderful ladies in optics were happy to help me figure out what looked and fit best. I can say with confidence that I've definitely found my go-to eye doctor for as long as I live here.

  • Lisa and friends are great. She always make me and my wife feel special. I didn’t need anymore sun glasses but I bought two pairs. My wife ordered a pair also. She showed me some glasses I didn’t notice that worked perfectly. She has a good eye for what looks good on different face shapes. I always enjoy my time in the eye center.
