DR. JEFFREY P. GARDINER, D.O.
Biography
Jeffrey P. Gardiner, D.O. joined Utah Valley Eye Center in July 2015. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and specializes in cataract, cornea, LASIK and ICL surgery.
Dr. Gardiner had plans to pursue a career in ophthalmology as early as high school. Assisting a group of ophthalmologists on a medical mission to Mexico confirmed this desire. He takes joy in and is committed to helping his patients achieve better vision and improved quality of life. He enjoys serving the Utah Valley community as well as being a part of medical missions to Mali, Africa with the doctors at Utah Valley Eye Center.
He joined our practice after completing a cornea fellowship under the direction of Thomas F. Mauger, M.D. at the Ohio State University Havener Eye Institute. During that time, he received extensive training in corneal transplantation and ocular surface procedures, as well as cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Gardiner was the first ophthalmology fellow at Ohio State to be presented with the residents’ surgical teaching award for his outstanding surgical skill and teaching capabilities while mentoring the ophthalmology residents in a surgical setting.
Prior to his fellowship at Ohio State, Dr. Gardiner completed an ophthalmology residency at the University of Arkansas under the direction of Richard A. Harper, M.D. In his final year of residency, Dr. Gardiner was recognized as “Resident of the Year”, an award voted on by all of the faculty ophthalmologists and fellow residents he worked with.
Dr. Gardiner grew up in Ogden, Utah. He attended Weber State University where he met his wife, Hilary. They were married shortly before moving to Arizona to attend medical school. Dr. Gardiner loves being back among the mountains where he enjoys biking, hiking, running, and spending time with his five children.
