Biography
Michael Lloyd, M.D. is an expert glaucoma specialist. He is committed to compassionate care, superior patient satisfaction, and excellence in medical and surgical glaucoma management.
Dr. Lloyd and his wife, Kimberly, are Utah Valley natives. Dr. Lloyd earned an undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University. He graduated from medical school at the University of Texas-Southwestern—a nationally ranked research and clinical medical center in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Lloyd completed a residency in ophthalmology and a glaucoma fellowship at the Casey Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon. Under the tutelage of Drs. John Morrison, and Beth Edmunds, he quickly became adept at medical and surgical management for glaucoma including trabeculectomy, laser trabeculoplasty, iridoplasty, and aqueous shunt placement. Dr. Lloyd is board certified in Ophthalmology and an active member of the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Lloyd completed a prestigious research and clinical glaucoma fellowship at the Dever’s Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon with recognized leaders in the discipline of glaucoma: Drs. E. Michael Van Buskirk, Jack Cioffi, Steven Mansberger, and Claude Burgoyne. During his fellowship, he further advanced his surgical skills as primary surgeon in routine and unusual cases, revision of previous and failed glaucoma surgeries and their complications. Also, during his fellowship, he was invited to be a reviewer of articles for the Scholarly Journal of Glaucoma—an activity he still enjoys. He regularly evaluates new advances in the science of glaucoma research, keeping current on the most recent developments in glaucoma diagnosis and therapy.
Dr. Lloyd is a member of the American Glaucoma Society and has given presentations at national and local meetings. He trained and supervised residents in medical and surgical glaucoma management, publishing his findings in the medical literature, and consulted with hundreds of patients with challenging and rare glaucoma problems.
