Things You Should Know About BOTOX®
As we age and wrinkles start to make their debut, the option of getting BOTOX® injections may become increasingly tempting. You may not think to go to your Provo Eye Doctor for BOTOX® but Utah Valley Eye can provide you with this service. We also think it’s important to do some research before booking your appointment so we’ve provided you with a few helpful facts about BOTOX®.
The Pain is Minimal
You might have heard that BOTOX® injections are extremely painful but this definitely not typical. Any pain you might experience with BOTOX® is minimal as the needles are not designed to inflict pain. Typically you shouldn’t feel much if any pain at all.
It’s Not a Facelift
Getting BOTOX® will never take the place of getting a facelift. BOTOX® is designed to relax your muscles, not lift them. This relaxes the muscles that cause dynamic lines (wrinkles) brought on by movement but it can’t replace muscle volume or tone due to aging.
Preventative Action
BOTOX® not only decreases the appearances of wrinkles, it can stop them before they even form. In cases where it doesn’t stop the development of wrinkles, it will delay them at the very least. Because of this, people are starting to get injections at younger ages, sometimes even in their 20s.
Results Aren’t Immediate
When getting BOTOX®, it’s important to remember that results aren’t immediate. Once you receive injections from your Provo Eye Doctor, it can take 3-7 days to see maximum results, and in some cases up to two weeks. Be patient and you’ll be rewarded for it.
Results Aren’t Permanent
It’s also important to remember that the results from BOTOX® are not permanent so you will need to make regular visits in order to maintain the look you desire. It will typically last 4-6 months depending on the person. As muscle action returns, lines will begin to form once more. Often times the wrinkles will come back less severe because they have been trained to relax.
We hope this helps you decide whether or not BOTOX® is the right option for you. If you are interested in getting injections or have questions, please call Utah Valley Eye and a Provo Eye Doctor would be happy to answer any of your questions.
