How to Tell if Your Child Needs Glasses

Constant Squinting

Peeking through a small opening reduces the size of the blurred image on the back of the retina. This temporarily improves vision and could be a sign of your child compensating for poor vision

Tilting their Head

As with squinting your child may be tilting their head from one side to another to try and improve their vision. Your child may have double vision when looking down or in a certain direction and tilting the head may minimize the double vision to a more manageable level.

Problems Reading

If your child seems to have a hard time reading they may have a vision problem. Using their finger to keep their place or losing their place while reading could be signs of astigmatism. If you notice your child is bringing books up closer to their face or looking down at an odd angle they may be nearsighted.
